About Mesmen

South Staffordshire mesmen Project was set up in 1995 with the main aims of the project focusing on developing and delivering high quality, relevant and appropriate HIV prevention initiatives and sexual health services to gay and bisexual men in a variety of settings throughout South Staffordshire.

Since the launch of the project, using evidence, local knowledge and responding to expressed or identified need, we have continued to develop and provide a wide range of high quality health and social welfare services to local Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT) communities in a variety of places and settings. Our headquarters are based in Lichfield and our work takes place throughout South Staffordshire.

Our team now consists of 2 members of staff and 2 sessional outreach workers, with help and support from the Staffordshire Buddies team in Hanley.

Our main aim is HIV prevention and sexual health for men who have sex with men, however, we are members of local forums and networks giving the LGBT community of South Staffordshire a voice on issues concerning LGBT people.

One of these Networks is the South and East Staffordshire LGBT Network.

The mesmen project is part of Staffordshire Buddies, a local HIV and sexual health charity. to visit the main Staffordshire Buddies website go to www.staffordshirebuddies.co.uk
